16/11/2006 - It is already november. Traditionally the moment that we start preparing the new season, while we are looking back on the finished season.
This year was a little bit different because Linda broke her leg just at the beginning of the season. But in spite of that it was a successful season and she was a permanent fixture around the swimming pool, sharing the fun with our clients. Happily enough, Linda has almost recovered now, but next year she will have to undergo a new operation.
Therefore, no more tables d’hôtes at our place, but our saving grace was Ivan and Nadine opening a new tables d’hôtes in the neighbourhood. And our guests were satisfied. She makes a lovely dinner and he is the perfect host. Furthermore the children can play in the swimming pool during dinner.
Next year they continue to do tables d’hôtes and we will do chambres d’hôtes (of course the breakfast will still be included ).
We also created an improvised kitchen near the terrace that was used quite a lot and is good reason for us to make it permanent. In that way, when you stay in one of the rooms, you do not always need to search for a restaurant.
This spring an excellent ‘traiteur-butcher’ was established in our village. There is also the existing bakery and a refurnished greengrocer’s shop. The café did re-open with a new owner and it is a very pleasant place now, where you can also obtain a simple meal.
In brief, Oppède has a lot of extra facilities now!
This letter is especially meant to tell our clients that we did polish up the website and renewed some pages. There are new photos, texts have changed, the letters that we write to you can be seen on the site, and you can give your comments in the guest book. It is really worth it to have a look at
www.masdecocagne.comNow is also the moment that we take new reservations and if you are interested please see that our terms have changed a little: We do rent the rooms by week all season round from Saturday to Saturday. The prices are more season-like. That is to say cheaper in April and October and a little more expensive in June and September.
Happily enough the Luberon did not change. Her beauty is still magic. As well the medieval villages ( all within small distance ) and nature are beautiful and are really worth your visit!
We hope to meet you at Mas the Cocagne.
Frank and Linda!
